Our story

Sunbrew Cafe takes its name from the suburb it calls home. Narwee is named after an Aboriginal word meaning sun. When the railway station opened in 1931, it took that name. Sunbrew brings the two together: the sun of Narwee, and the coffee we brew here every morning.

We're on a sun-soaked spot on Fisher Place, and inside it's all bright colours and warm, cosy corners. It's why Sunbrew has become the community's favourite third space: somewhere between home and work to start the day, catch up with friends or stay a while over a second coffee.

Sunbrew was founded by May, Raymond and Kelvin, and the three of us still run it together. Most days you'll find at least one of us here, making coffee, cooking or taking orders at the counter.

Name origin: Dictionary of Sydney, Narwee.

Where our food and coffee come from

We look for suppliers who are the best at what they do, then let their work speak for itself. Our coffee is Single O, Collider blend. Our sourdough comes from Sonoma, butter from Pepe Saya and gluten-free bread from Nonie's. Our chai is Prana Chai, our teas are from Teacraft, our ceremonial matcha comes from Uji, Japan, and our fresh produce comes from the markets.

Come and say hello
